Jakarta Bus Rapid Transit

TransJakarta is a bus rapid transit (BRT) system in Jakarta, Indonesia. Actually it's the easiest & cheapest way to explore Jakarta in all directions. It was the first BRT system in Southern and Southeast Asia. TransJakarta started on January 25, 2004. As of December 28, 2011 there were 11 corridors (or lanes) in operation, with 4 more to be built. TransJakarta was designed to provide Jakarta citizens with a fast public transportation system to help reduce rush hour traffic jams. The buses run in special lanes, and the ticket prices are subsidized by the regional government. In 2011, TransJakarta carried 114,783,774 passengers or about 310,000 passengers per day, increased by 32 percent from 86,937,287 passengers last year. Currently, TransJakarta has the world's longest BRT routes with 172 km system length and has more than 520 buses in operation.

Jakarta Old City

Kota Tua ( Jakarta Old City ) is an area of Dutch colonization inheritance which was well-known as Batavia in the 17th century. At Kota Tua area you can see old buildings with architecture style influenced by the Dutch or European architecture style, Chinese and even some of them with combination of Dutch and Chinese architecture. Some of the old buildings at Kota Tua area occupied as museums by the governor of DKI Jakarta. Kota Tua is one of a very interesting place or area to visit when you travel to Jakarta since it’s a center of historical tourism object in Jakarta.

Welcome to Jakarta

Jakarta is the capital and largest city of  Indonesia, located on the northwest of the island of Java. Jakarta is administratively divided into the following named districts:

  • Central Jakarta  (Jakarta Pusat) - An aptly named district and the site of Jakarta's symbol, the National Monument. The old part of Jakarta (Batavia), The Presidential palace, office buildings, hotels, Mangga Dua shopping centre, Bundaran HI (Hotel Indonesia Traffic Circle), Embassies and the elite Menteng residential area are all found in Central Jakarta
  • West Jakarta  (Jakarta Barat) - Jakarta's Chinatown, this district includes museums, trading centres, nightlife entertainment centres, shopping centres and malls. This is also the site of Jakarta's old town.
  • South Jakarta (Jakarta Selatan) - Where you can find upscale shopping centres, malls, restaurants, hotels, nightlife the entertainment centre, Blok M, Senayan sports complex, and affluent residential areas.
  • East Jakarta (Jakarta Timur) - Location of Taman Mini Indonesia Indah, Utan Kayu art community, Cibubur camping ground, industrial parks and Halim Perdanakusuma airport.
  • North Jakarta (Jakarta Utara) - Beautiful Thousand Islands, Ancol Bayfront City, and Kelapa Gading Area
 

Almost travelers and visitors who come to Jakarta frankly is because the position Jakarta as a main gateway from abroad and make Jakarta as starting point to explore Java region or another paradise area in Indonesia, but once again it’s worth to visit Jakarta as this city will make great impression for you.

Java is Indonesia's fifth-largest island and become main island.
